Why I Started DeenFuel Health
A personal message from Imam Haris Qudsi
The Struggle
For years, I watched the number on the scale creep upward, and I felt powerless to stop it. I tried everything: working out regularly, cutting back on meals, meticulously tracking my food intake. The tedium of counting every calorie was exhausting. I cut out soda and sugary drinks completely.
None of it worked. Not really. The weight would come off slowly, then come right back. I felt like I was doing everything right, but my body simply would not cooperate.
The Wake-Up Call
I had always been a bigger person, but I had never been this big. Nearly 300 pounds, up from about 200 in college. I could feel it in everything: my energy levels, my ability to keep up with my kids, my presence in the community.
Then came the blood test. Pre-diabetic. That word hit me like a wake-up call from Allah. I knew I had to find another way.
The Turning Point
That search led me to GLP-1 medications, specifically Zepbound. For the first time, I found something that worked with my biology instead of against it. The constant hunger that had sabotaged every diet finally quieted. Making healthy choices became easier, not harder.
I have lost over 50 pounds.
More importantly, I got my energy back. I can pray taraweeh standing. I can chase my kids around the park. I can be fully present in my community.
Why This Matters
“Your body has a right over you.”
Our bodies are an amanah, a trust from Allah. Taking care of them is not vanity. It is worship. It is stewardship of the gift we have been given.
I wanted more energy for salah. I wanted to be present for my family, to play with my children without getting winded. I wanted to show up fully in my community. These medications gave me the tool I needed to honor that trust.
Seeking help is not weakness. It is wisdom.
The Mission
I built DeenFuel Health to give others the same path I found. A path with providers who understand your values. Guidance that respects Ramadan, offers halal nutrition advice, and sees the whole person, not just a number on a scale.
This is healthcare that sees you. That understands the cultural weight of seeking help for something so personal. That treats your journey with the dignity it deserves.
If my story sounds familiar, know that you are not alone. And know that there is another way.
Your Body Has a Right Over You
Take the first step toward the strength and health you deserve. No stigma. No judgment. Just support.
